He had listened to Luke Skywalker's view of the Force, learning how it should be obeyed. He had listened to Kyp Durron, learning how it should be used. His views leaned more toward Kyp Durron's, but he did not feel the man was strong enough to uphold them. But he was. He could make the Jedi Order the strength that they were supposed to be. Unfortunately, Luke Skywalker and his Jedi Knights stood in the way.
But not for long.
One of Palpatine's secret chambers had been opened several months ago, revealing a holochip that featured one of the Emperor's greatest frustrations: The young Jedi Apprentices. They were removed the night before the Great Temple was attacked, never being heard from again. Darth Vader and his henchmen had searched the Galaxy for them, but their efforts were fruitless.
Usually, children would not worry a great Sith Lord so much, if it weren't for the fact that Jedi bred Jedi. That reason alone interested him in the apprentices' whereabouts. Fifty years of breeding between the twenty or so apprentices could bring numbers greater than Skywalker's Jedi. He had been searching for them since he learned about them, but, so far, his search had been fruitless as well.
But he would not fail.
Corran Horn's apprentice, Helaine Trillium, was the only person alive who could possibly know anything about the apprentices. She was far too well protected to get anywhere near, he knew, because the leader of the resistance group in Naboo had taken an interest in her as well. Since Helaine had not spoken to Skywalker about the apprentices, he knew that she did not know where they had been taken. So, his interest in her was little, stretching only as far as the Klionian's desire for her death.
The Klion leader's goal to destroy the Naboo aristocracy worked to his advantage, for it placed Luke Skywalker high on her kill list. An alliance was made with her quickly, both working as equal partners in the relationship.
But only for a little while. No mere mortal would ever be a Jedi's equal.
One more power joined their Alliance, also of Naboo blood. He was a former Baron, who was now being chased by the New Republic, because of Armand Naberrie, the younger Prince of Naboo. His vendetta against Luke Skywalker and the Jedi lay with the death of his daughter, and heir, by the sinister hands of Valdemar.
The Baron and the Leader of the Klions were content with ruling only over Naboo. He could pretend that was all he wanted, alluding to his Jedi Order as being merely a security force in the Galaxy. Those who enforced the laws had the true power in the Galaxy, and under his leadership, no one would, because they would not be able to.
Such was the power and right of a Jedi, and the only way to rule the Galaxy.
