Scerra's ties to the Horn family date back to her childhood. She grew up with and lived near Rostek Horn, who was the same age as her. She married the Jedi Nejaa Halcyon, and together they had one child, Valin. She always was able to keep close ties to Rostek, however, since her husband partnered with him frequently and helped Rostek bring criminals to justice. When Nejaa wore his Jedi garb on such missions, she referred to them as his hunting clothes.
When Nejaa left to take part in the Clone Wars, he made a promise to his family that the Wars would not kill him. She stayed on Corellia with Valin during this time, until one day she got the news she had been dreading. One of Nejaa's friends, a Caamasi Jedi named Ylenic It'kla, came bearing Nejaa's effects. Nejaa had kept his promise and did not die in the Clone Wars, but had been slain shortly after on a special mission. She was 37 years old.
In her time of mourning, she was able to share her grief with Rostek. The two grew very close, and were soon married. When the Jedi extermination policy went into effect, she was safe because Rostek had altered her records. Her son, Valin, was adopted by Rostek and assumed the name Hal Horn. Rostek told her that he had destroyed all of Nejaa's effects, so all she had left of Nejaa was their child and her memories. She died sometime before I, Jedi.
