Rostek Horn

Rostek Horn had known his future wife, Scerra, since they were children. They lived down the street from each other and were friends. Upon adulthood, he entered the Corellian Security Force Academy, where he set records that would not be broken for years. After graduating the Academy, he joined the Corellian Security Force and devoted his life to making Corellia a better place. This was in the days when Fliry Vorru was Moff of the Corellian Sector.

From time to time over a ten year period, he partnered with a Corellian Jedi named Nejaa Halcyon, whose destiny would become interwoven with his own. Nejaa married Scerra, and the two families remained very close. Rostek believed that Nejaa always had an idea of what the future would bring and made sure that Rostek and Scerra remained friends.

Not long after the start of the Clone Wars on Geonosis, Inspector Horn, at Nejaa's request, took part in a covert op. Nejaa planned to pose as a researcher on the run from his former employer, the Techno Union, and Rostek was to watch Nejaa's back. Rostek's other role was most likely to make sure CorSec did not inadvertently mess up Nejaa's mission, as it was vital that the Techno Union did not find out that their researcher was not even on Corellia.

Nejaa eventually went off to fight in the Clone Wars, after promising Rostek and Scerra that he would not die in the Wars. Rostek himself fought in a few actions near Corellia alongside some Jedi Knights. While Nejaa was gone, Rostek kept an eye on Scerra and her ten year-old son, Valin. He was with Scerra, therefore, when Ylenic It'kla came bearing the news of Nejaa's death. Rostek was thirty-seven years old at this time.

He and Scerra helped each other through their time of mourning, and they grew even closer. They were married soon after. It wasn't too long after this that word of the Jedi Hunters and the Jedi extermination policy reached them.

Realizing that Scerra and her son were now in danger, Rostek, being a highly placed member of CorSec, was able to get into the computers and alter their records. He erased all traces of the Halcyons, made it appear that Scerra had always been married to him, and gave Valin the Horn last name. He may have also altered records for other Corellian Jedi and their families but, if so, it remains his secret.

He also took the trunk containing Nejaa's effects and buried it beneath a manure pile in an old storm cellar in their back yard. He told Scerra and Valin, who was now known as Hal Horn, that he had destroyed everything. He also inserted into the records that he was a diligent hunter of Jedi to mislead those who would look closer at him and his family.

Rostek had always liked gardening. He now decided to put his horticultural skills to good use in preserving the Halcyon heritage. He put all of his files pertaining to the Halcyons and the Jedi into the genetic code of his flowers. He also decided to encode other kinds of files, such as information on politicians and Imperial liaisons.

His keeping of sensitive information almost got him into big trouble when the Diktat disolved CorSec and formed the Public Safety Service. They set fire to both his 2-story home and Corran's childhood home, hoping to destroy his files. Since they did not destroy his flowers, however, he was able to use his files to blackmail them. The government ended up building him a huge mansion, and now try to monitor his activities, with limited success.

Rostek retired some time before the Public Safety Service was formed. He chooses to spend his days gardening and keeping the Corellian bigshots on their toes. Still thriving at the beginning of the New Jedi Order series, he used his influential pull with them to allow his grandson, Corran, considered a pariah by most, sanctuary. He is considered a horticultural treasure, and he delights in giving politicians flowers with the files that pertain to them. He has even done this with the Jedi Hunters, giving them flowers from his Halcyon line.

Rostek is tall, lean, and has an aristocratic bearing. His hair, once black, is now white, but is still as thick as ever. His grey eyes are never at rest and are very expressive, capable of either being Hoth cold or warm with love and compassion. He considers Corran as his true grandson, and told him he approves of Mirax despite the family rivalry because she was able to win Corran's heart.
