Wedge stood up and stretched. The number of times I’ve done this. All those missions. All those briefings. He grinned, and then muttered to himself.
"I must be getting old."

General Wedge Antilles entered the briefing room and smiled.
"Friends, fellow pilots, comrades. And Rogues," he added, almost as an after thought. That got a snigger from Wes Janson, the baby-faced Major who had been with the squadron almost as long as Wedge himself.
"I’ve called you here for a couple of reasons. The first one is to welcome three more pilots into our ranks. Lieutenant Caet Shrovl, Lieutenant Timmser Retachii and Captain Ylenic A’kla."
The three pilots, a tall, blond woman, a white-furred Shistavanan Wolf woman shrouded in a dark, hooded cloak and a young Caamasi male with gold fur and purple markings on his forehead, stood up and Wedge gave them each a data-pad and their squadron badges. As the Rogues applauded, he saw Corran give the new pilots a funny look.
"Also, Captain Myn Donos has returned to us. As most of you know, he was on leave, and, at one point, managed to meet up with Face and the rest of the Wraiths."
Wedge smiled at his pilots.
"You’ve probably all worked this out, but we’re going to be part of a task force, led by Generals Solo and Bel Iblis, that will go into the Corellian Sector to stop some pirates that are plaguing the area.
"We’ll be stationed on Corellia itself, and we’re going to be acting as the link between the sector’s own security forces and the rest of the fleet.
"We’ll be stationed in the base at Coronet City." He nodded. "You are dismissed."
As the pilots filled out, Wedge signalled to a pair of his senior Rogues.
"Corran, Gavin. Could I see you in my office please."

**********

The two sat down in Wedge's office, comfortable on the nerf-hide couch.
Wedge plonked himself down unceremoniously on the battered X-wing ejection seat that he had insisted on keeping.
He cleared his throat.
"What I didn’t tell everyone back in the briefing room was that someone, either on the military or the merchant fleets is subtly aiding the pirates, even giving them ships. We’re going to need to scout out these organisations.
"Corran, I want you to liaise with Iella and contact Corsec."
"Grandfather rebuilt Corsec after Governor-General Marcha disbanded the P.P.S. He’s in charge, so I don’t think that our job will be that hard."
Wedge nodded.
"Gavin, I’d like you to talk with the trading councils. You were brought up on Tatooine, so I’m guessing you must have done a fair amount of bargaining."
The younger man looked at Corran
"Um, Corran, I know Mirax is on holiday and everything, but could I possibly ask her to help me because she probably knows more about traders than I ever will, and she’s Corellian..." He trailed off.
Corran grinned.
"No problem, Gavin." He wiggled his finger at the former moisture farmer. "Although I may think otherwise, Mirax insists she needs her beauty sleep, so don’t go waking her up at two in the morning." He winked. "Two-thirty is fine."
Wedge coughed loudly. "Whilst Gavin and Mirax are bargaining with the bargainers, and Corran is talking to old friends with my wife, I’m going to be arguing with Governor-General Marcha." Winking at Two flight’s leader he remarked, "As you aren’t married, I guess Tycho will have to be my aide."
Gavin chuckled. "Well, General," he said, using Wedge’s hated title, "you could probably ask Sera..." The three Rogues collapsed into helpless laughter.
