Nyche Horn

Nyche was the wife of Hal and the mother of Corran. She was short, shorter than even Corran, and had blond hair and blue eyes. Nyche's passion was antiquities. She had a penchant for walking into a junk shop and finding treasures. She volunteered at the Coronet City Museum of Fine Arts for many years, and it was because of this that, when the museum had a private showing for museum patrons, that Corran and Hal were hired by the Administrative board when they needed extra security guards. She took Corran to museums often throughout his life, and was not the kind of woman to enter a run-down place like the Mos Eisley Cantina.

Nyche was not one that was given to gossip. She thought gossip was in poor taste. She rarely was critical of anyone. The most critical she got was commenting on a middle-aged CorSec chief's choice of airspeeder, saying that this woman should have bought a model that was more practical and less flashy. Nyche was also known to collect old clothes to be sent to various Caamasi camps across the galaxy. This last is a reflection of one of the qualities for which Hal loved her. He believed her to not have a selfish bone in her body and that she always put others before herself.

Nyche Horn died in the time period between the destruction of Alderaan and the destruction of the convoy at Derra IV. She was involved in a landspeeder accident and was hit head on. She was rushed to the hospital, but was beyond the help of bacta.

Her husband and son were able to make it to the hospital to be with her at the end. She never expressed any regrets, but just talked to them about their future plans as if she'd be there with them. It is probable that she went to the grave never knowing Hal's secret.
