How long will this chat go? As long as Mr. Denning is willing to grace us with his presence. In other words, who knows?

Where will it be held? irc.holonet.org 6667 channel #literature

Elaborate, please? Sure. First of all, it's best if you have an IRC client. These can be downloaded at either mIRC or pirch. I personally use mIRC, but I see at the pirch one there are options for MAC users.

Okay, I've got the IRC client. Now what do I do? These instructions are for mIRC options only. May be different for pirch. Go to mIRC Options. Click on Add (will be in top right hand corner). For Description type in holonet. For IRC Server type in irc.holonet.org. The port 6667 should already be in Port. Click Add. In Options, type in the name you wish to be known as in the Nickname box, and an alternate name in Alternative. If the nickname you have chosen is already in use or is registered by another user, you will either be logged in under your alternative name or you will need to change it (/nick newname will change it for you). Click on Connect to IRC Server. After all the connection information finishes flashing by, type /join #literature, and you should appear in the room.

What if I don't want to or can't download IRC? Does this mean I can't come to the chat? Not at all! Click on this link to use a Java based client. When it opens up, if it asks if you want to install jIRC applet (I think it's what it says), click yes. It should then open up a window asking Nick Name and Channel. Go ahead and change the Nick Name from newbie to whatever you want your name to be during the chat. If you pick a name that's already been registered, you will need to change it. To do so, just type /nick newname, substituting your new nickname for newname. Choose #web for the Channel, since #literature has not been added to the list of rooms. When you get to #web, type /join #literature. You should automatically leave the #WEB channel and appear in #literature. Once you're there, all there is left to do is enjoy!

What if I can't attend, but I'd still like to ask Mr. Denning something? Am I out of luck? Not at all. You can feel free to email your questions to me, and I'll do my best to make sure they get asked. I will accept email questions until an hour before the chat begins.
