One of the reasons Corran joined the New Republic is because he sought justice that was denied to people that were oppressed by the Imperials.
Corran still questions whether he did the right thing by joining the New Republic. Mainly, he wonders if his father would have approved. He is pretty sure that Hal would have, but since he never actually heard it from his father's lips, this plagues him. He is also afraid that his father would not be proud of him for this decision, even though he believes Hal would've supported the decision.
Corran's first roommate was Ooryl Qyrgg.
He had problems trusting others and opening up to the members of his squadron because he had spent so much time on the run, relying on only himself and Whistler.
On the way to Rogue Squadron's first base on Talasea, they were pulled out of hyperspace by an Interdictor Cruiser in the Chorax system. Here they encountered a Baudo-class ship under attack. During the dogfight, Corran's X-Wing was hit by an ion cannon, putting him out of the battle. Or so everyone fought. Tycho, unarmed in his shuttle, gave Corran the targeting data he lacked, enabling him to take out two more Intereceptors and giving him the most kills for the day. His X-Wing crippled, he was taken aboard the Baudo-class ship, which was later revealed to be the Pulsar Skate, captained by Mirax Terrik.
Corran believes that had Hal known of Booster's role in helping the young Wedge Antilles track down his parents' murderer, Hal would not have been so hard on Booster and maybe even not have had him sent to Kessel.
Corran and Ooryl saved the squadron on Talasea from being blown up in their bunks when they detected an Imperial sabotage team and were able to wake up the rest of the squadron. Corran took a hit to the right breast and ended up spending at least 12 hours in bacta. Lujayne Forge was killed at this time.
Corran was instrumental in saving many pilots' lives at Vladet as he convinced General Salm and Commander Antilles to release Salm's Warden Squadron to him and have them fire their proton torpedoes at his X-Wing. By putting his X-Wing into a random weave, he was able to direct the proton torpedoes to miss him and hit the Lancer-class ship that was threatening the snubfighters. He would have died there had Whistler not cut out all ship's power at the last moment, making the last errant missile lose its target lock on his ship.
Flew mission in Hensara space to cover ships sent to retrieve some stranded operatives.
He began to have favorable feelings toward Mirax on their second meeting, when she came to his quarters bearing a peace offering.
Had a very bad feeling on the first mission to Borleias (codenamed Blackmoon). Compared it to the same bad feeling he'd had the day his father had been killed. After the failed mission, he vowed, "Someone made some very bad mistakes here, and our friends paid for them. Never again." (Rogue Squadron, page 281)
The second attempt to take Borleias succeeded, due to Corran, Lt. Page, and Whistler figuring out a way for the world to be taken successfully.
Whistler has special criminal investigation and forensics circuitry, courtesy of CorSec.
Corran, although ignorant of his Jedi heritage, still has somewhat Jedi-like methods of not letting fear or anger rule his actions. When either of these emotions threaten to overtake him in battle, he is able to remind himself that what he is doing isn't for himself, but rather for the benefit of others. He only kills because it is necessary, not out of glory or revenge. The knowledge that he is working to make life better for others is often enough to dispel fear, refocusing his mind on his purpose and his duty.
In spite of the above thoughts, when the battle is no longer raging, he can still be proud and arrogant. He considers himself one of the best, and he wants people to know it. "If we do this right, Biggs and the rest won't be remembered as Rogue Squadron's greatest heroes, but the predecessors to Rogue Squadron's greatest heroes." (Rogue Squadron, page 318)
Served as Wedge's wingman during second Borleias mission. Was ordered to leave when he had fuel tank problems. On his way out, he saw Lt. Page's shuttle about to be attacked, so chose to save it. He therefore did not have enough fuel to make it back to base and would have been captured by Imperials had not Mirax and Tycho showed up in the Pulsar Skate.
Corran is not above playing practical jokes.
Corran's perceptions of his then unknown Force ability. "The sensation frustrated him with its elusiveness, as if it were no more tangible than the faint scent of a flower teasing his nose and defying identification." (Wedge's Gamble, page 2). "He'd always has a sense about who was telling the truth and who was lying to him. He'd gotten used to following that feeling, playing his hunches to find the chinks in the stories suspects used to build." (Wedge's Gamble, page 24).
Corran had known Tycho for six months before he and Tycho talked about Tycho's missing time.
Following a hunch, he led two of General Salm's Y-Wings in thwarting an attempt by Warlord Zsinj from taking the newly conquered Borleias.
He reluctantly participated in a mission to free prisoners, some really nasty, from Kessel for insertion into Coruscant. One of these was Zekka Thyne, who tried to take credit for Hal's murder.
A perception of Corran from one of his enemies, Kirtan Loor: capable of using violence, but also of controlling his temper. Cunning and relentless. When pertaining to CorSec work, not as thorough as Iella, who is able to pick up the small clues. Is more apt to accomplish things using brute strength than élan. In short, dangerous and to be feared.
Iella's perception of Corran's report tone: concise, to the point, and unequivocal in statement of facts. Prompt in filing reports, as prompt as possible if extremely busy.
Corran believes in love arising from stable relationships, not from simply acting on mutual sexual desires.
Corran admitted to himself that he was perfectly capable of loving Mirax right before he left Noquivzor for his Coruscant mission, if only he'd allow himself to.
Corran took part in the mission to liberate Coruscant. To get onplanet, he disguised himself as Erisi Dlarit's telbun. While there, his and Erisi's job was to evaluate the security and the medical facilities.
Corran realized he had begun to look to Wedge and Tycho as "moral compasses" in the absence of his father and Gil. Since at the time of this realization he also felt he could not fully trust Tycho due to his capture by Isard, he had problems reconciling the two disparate feelings.
Corran had another of his extremely "bad feelings" when Erisi wanted to make love to him. He made up a convenient excuse and fled the quarters, taking him down into the darker parts of Coruscant. It was by doing this that he eventually ended up reuniting with Gavin's group of Rogues. Of course, this gave Erisi time to make a report to her Imp superiors. It is also because of this "bad feeling" that he later chooses not to pursue a relationship with the "bacta queen."
Corran left his medallion with Whistler when told by NR Intelligence that he shouldn't wear it to Coruscant.
He came up with the idea to put Rebel-friendly code into a few of the memory cores that is inserted into Coruscant's computers hourly. Unfortunately, they were betrayed and the plan was not carried out.
Before flying in his Z-95 Headhunter to help bring down Coruscant's shields, he told Mirax he wanted to pursue a relationship with her. She consented.
Corran succeeded in bringing the shields down, then caught a weird ship on his sensors, one that kept switching between an unknown ship and a Super Star Destroyer. No one else was able to pick this up, so he decided to go check it out. When he got closer to it, he lost control of his Headhunter, which had been taken over by Isard or one of her people. His speed increased, his acceleration compensator went out, and his ship inverted, causing him to lose consciousness. When he awoke again, he found himself Isard's captive and, as he believed himself to be, on a ship in hyperspace, heading for what he later discovered to be Isard's fabled Lusankya prison.
Isard did her best to turn Corran into one of her agents. She put him into at least two scenarios designed to encourage him to shoot at Rebel targets. The first time failed because he could not be induced to shoot at X-wings bearing the Rogue Squadron crest, and the second time failed for many reasons, including feeling like he was being manipulated and remembering that Kirtan Loor, one of the two supposed pilots of the simulated X-wings, didn't even know how to fly a shuttle.
When her attempts to make him shoot at his allies failed, Isard decided to interrogate Corran strictly to see how highly placed he really was and what kind of information he had been privy to. She did this using both narco-interrogation and pain inducers. She was disappointed in what she learned from him because he had not been placed highly enough to really know any damaging New Republic or CorSec/Diktat secrets.
Corran may have unconsciously been accessing the Force while Isard was messing with his mind. During Isard's second attempt to get him to fire on X-wings, the whole time he kept feeling that something was dreadfully wrong. Also, when she is using the "Inducer" on him, at times he is able to focus on a certain aspect of the sensations running through his body, like cold, which seems to dull the pain. This may be Corran clumsily using the Force to shunt away some of the pain.
Isard eventually tired of him and threw him into the regular prison population. It was here that he met Jan Dodonna, although he didn't find out exactly who he was until some time after his escape. Jan tells him he believes he knew his grandfather, but says he's not thinking of Rostek. Of course, he is thinking of Nejaa, but there is no way for Corran to know this.
Corran's first attempt to escape Lusankya failed, but was not in vain. After being stunned, he was taken to the med bay, where he learned Lusankya's gravitic secret, which enabled him to plan his second, successful escape.
Corran is small enough and scrawny enough to fit through holes most other regular-sized males could not. He fits through a small gap and thinks to himself that only some of the older or sick prisoners could have made it through that gap.
Evir Derricote figured out Corran's escape plan and tried to stop him. He would have killed Corran had Jan not suspected Derricote might be up to no good and followed. Jan saved Corran's life.
Most obvious unconscious use of Corran's Force ability: when on the run, he is forced to hide from a stormtrooper search. One of them looks right into where he is hiding. Corran makes the stormtrooper believe that there is no one hiding inside the cabinet. Corran attributes the stormtrooper not seeing him to his being sloppy because he was bored.
After finding the evidence proving that Tycho is innocent, Corran admits to himself that maybe deep down he never truly doubted Tycho.
During his escape, Corran finds himself in a closed-off part of the museum on Coruscant (he doesn't know it's this at the time) dedicated to the Jedi. Not only does he borrow clothes from here to replace his prison garments, he learns quite a bit about his family. It is here for the first time he learns the identity of the man on his medallion (Nejaa Halycon) and sees a picture of his father as a boy with Nejaa. The caption says the boy is Nejaa's apprentice. Corran borrows the medallion and Nejaa's lightsaber and uses the lightsaber to fight his way out of the room.
Upon his escape, Corran alerted Whistler to his existence and was able to arrive at the courtroom holding Tycho's trial just in time for Lusankya to blast off from Coruscant. He is able to prove Tycho's innocence and knows the identity of the real traitor.
After things had settled down, Corran had returned Nejaa's lightsaber to the museum, but Luke Skywalker later returned it to him, saying it was his inheritance. This is where he hears for the first time the story of Rostek marrying Scerra and adopting Hal to protect them from the Jedi purge. Luke also offers Corran the chance to train as a Jedi Knight, but he declines, saying he needs to keep his promise to Jan and the others and do all he can to free the Lusankya prisoners.
Accompanies Mirax and Gavin to Tatooine to acquire arms from Gavin's uncle Huff. Gets more than he bargained for when he also finally encounters Booster Terrik.
Partook in "pirate" mission of "acquiring" bacta and delivering it to Halanit, free of charge.
Bror Jace has respect for Corran's skills and experience.
Mission to Qretu 5 to take out a bacta containment facility (part of reclaim Thyferra campaign).
Whistler has distance processing equipment installed in him. The purpose was to aid in CorSec stakeouts.
The fourth anniversary of Hal's death occured when Corran was participating in the campaign to take back Thyferra. The third anniversary occured when he had just joined Rogue Squadron. The events are just as vivid to him at this time as they were right after they has just happened.
One of his underlying fears is that his father would have felt betrayed by Corran's love for Mirax. This lack of approval plagues him, even though he believes that Hal would have eventually accepted Mirax.
The Thyferran campaign itself was rough on Corran, both physically and mentally. Being from a CorSec background, he had problems with the hit-and-run missions that almost became a staple during the campaign. They made him feel criminal and reminded him of activity better suited for pirates.
During Thyferran campaign, also flew a lot of missions escorting freighters in the delivery and pickup of bacta. One of those missions ended up turning into an ambush in the Alderaan Graveyard, where everyone was saved by the arrival of an old Alderaanian war frigate, who thought Tycho's X-wing was the Another Chance.
Corran and Ooryl were dispatched to Thyferra to determine if the rumors of Vratix extermination were true.
Corran and Booster got into a huge fight when discussing Wedge, Booster, and Tycho's plan to invite Isard into the secret base at Yag'Dhul. Corran reveals that he still has problems with Booster and other smugglers because they evade taxes, denying money to projects like education and spaceport maintenance. He doesn't buy the "noble scoundrel" bit about defying the government by tax evasion. He also claims he's more than worthy of Mirax because both he and Mirax have higher morals and standards than Booster. When attacked about abandoning Mirax to the Imps on Thyferra, Corran accuses Booster of abandoning Mirax for five years when he went to Kessel.
Wedge believes Corran to be a good match for Mirax because she needs the stability that Booster hasn't been able to provide for her, and vice versa because her curiosity and fervor for life keeps Corran from becoming isolated and alone.
Part of Corran's problem with Booster stemmed from his mistaken belief that Hal had hated Booster. Corran believed that he needed to stand in for his father in that aspect, and that he would be betraying him if he didn't. Once Corran realized that Hal had never hated Booster, he was able to come to an understanding with Booster.
Corran was one of the Rogues dispatched to ferry in Karrde's last cargo transfer to Yag'Dhul. Because he was picked to lead this "invitation," he was not privy to Wedge's ultimate plan to bring down Isard.
Despite being absent from Mirax more than with her since his return from the Lusankya, Corran finally realizes there is no one else he'd rather spend his life with. He proposes to Mirax on the eve of the final mission to reclaim Thyferra and oust Isard. He is willing to accept her for who she is, and does not ask that she give up her lifestyle or her father to be with him, as long as she accepts him as is as well. In lieu of a ring, he offers her his medallion, which she reluctantly accepts.
Iella has always predicted how long Corran's relationships would last, and her predictions were usually dead on. His relationship with Mirax is the first relationship she has never made a prediction about.
During the Battle for Thyferra, he, along with Tycho, Ooryl, and Nawara, chase after the shuttle assumed to be carrying Isard and her TIE escort. One of the escort happens to be Erisi. Corran tracks her down and takes her out after she shoots Nawara out of his X-wing.
Corran also gets the opportunity to take out Isard, but is unable to. The shuttle's shields have been upgraded enough to withstand laser blasts, and he is out of torpedoes, using his last one on Erisi. Furious and desperate to stop her from attaining hyperspace, he is prepared to ram her shuttle with his X-wing, but in his fury he has hit the switch broadcasting the coordinates needed for a target lock, enabling Tycho to take the shot with his torpedoes. Corran thinks that it might have been the Force that guided his hand to the switch, since he didn't consciously do it, but he prefers to chalk it up to justice.
Corran, along with the rest of the Rogues, were given the honor of attending Ooryl's janwuine-jika ceremony, giving Ooryl the right to speak of himself in the first person.
Corran believes that, were he still with CorSec and been assigned with the task of tracking down Talon Karrde, it would have been reminiscent to his father's situation with Booster, only Karrde would have gotten away.
General Cracken tasked Corran with persuading Booster to relinquish the Virulence to the New Republic. He was unsuccessful.
Corran and Mirax were married on the Lusankya by Commander Wedge Antilles. Witnesses were Tycho Celchu and Iella Wessiri. Sometime after everyone's return to Coruscant, they held a more formal ceremony so everyone else could attend. They decided to elope to spare themselves having to deal with Booster having a fit throughout the entire engagement.
Appraisal of Corran from his commanding officer, Wedge Antilles: smart, skilled, courageous. Impressed by his escape from Lusankya and his willingness to put himself at risk to save others. He says they'd all be either Imperial prisoners or dead if it weren't for Corran.
Corran and the Rogues were part of the task force Han assembled to hunt Warlord Zsinj. They were a part of Wraith-planned operations at Talasea, where the Wraiths ended up not needing help, and at Ession, where Admiral Trigit's ship Implacable was destroyed and where Grinder and Falynn lost their lives.
Rogue Squadron participated with Han's task force to stop Zsinj from stealing the SSD Razor's Kiss from Kuat. The force was successful in preventing Zsinj from having it, although the ship was destroyed in the process.
Corran was one of the few Rogues who took part in the open planning sessions the Wraiths had after the Twi'lek incident where they were trying to figure out what had happened to Tal'dira. This most likely was motivated by his desire to find out who had screwed with Tal'dira enough to make him want to commit suicide.
A couple of interesting lines Corran has said around or involving the Wraiths: "Rogue Squadron doesn't run," said Corran Horn, deadpan. "Unless we really, really have to." (Iron Fist, p. 114) "Remember not to fire on the Interceptors. They're Wraiths, and they might cry." (Solo Command, pp. 180-181) I'm really not sure what to make of these, so I include them here for future thought.
